Add a Portfolio Company | ValueBridge App

The ValueBridge App is designed to provide powerful return and value creation insights with minimal data entry. Inputs are built around transactions that include a date and the impact on fund equity, total equity, net debt, revenue, gross profit, and EBITDA. These automatically generate gross and net returns, and the consolidated entry and exit metrics that build the value bridges instantly.

Guide highlights

Roll-ups begin with portfolio companies

Fund dashboards show aggregate gross and net returns and value bridges for all portfolio companies in a fund. Dashboard roll-ups mirror portfolio company value bridges, with basic income statement, valuation, and capital structure drivers; a detailed breakout; and market vs. manager returns. Valuation basis can cut to only the revenue-multiple or EBITDA-multiple deals. Every dashboard provides absolute ($) value creation, times money, relative (%) value creation, and value creation IRRs.

Create a portfolio company and link markets

Add a portfolio company with name, active or exited status, entry and exit date, and a workspace fund. Set valuation basis to revenue or EBITDA, and then set market metrics or link to market datasets — including market multiples, addressable markets, and sector debt ratios. Datasets are fully customizable and, after linking, market vs manager math updates whenever the data changes.

First portfolio company transactions

Every portfolio company needs at least two transaction records: one inflow and one outflow or FMV. Start with a platform acquisition. For an active deals, select platform FMV. For an exited deals, select platform sale. Enter capital structure and P&L data — numbers typically found in GP reporting and marketing materials. Tooltips provide instructions and examples for each transaction type.

Add more transactions

Most PE deals have more than two transactions: add-ons, follow-on equity, divestments, dividend recapitalizations, and similar events. Add each dated transaction’s capital structure and income statement impact. If needed, tips reveal instructions and examples for each transaction type. There is no limit to the number of transactions.

Most portfolio companies can be added in 2-3 minutes, and even complex deals with many transactions can be built in under 5-minutes.

Confirm on portfolio company and fund dashboards

The portfolio company dashboard shows the deal’s gross and net returns and its own value bridges. The Fund dashboard shows the updated deal count, updated fund returns, and the deal’s value drivers in the fund value bridges.
